24 Strands of Multi-Mode Optical Fiber

Here is a Distribution Can with 24 Strands (4 – 6 Strand Cables) of Multi-Mode Optical Fiber feeding Internet Connectivity to 4 fourplex units at an assisted living complex.

Not real happy with the cable management design of this can. But the network is SMOKE'N FAST!

Each fourplex had a fiber can feeding a 100/1000 Mbps switch in turn feeding a CAT 6 cable to each apartment.

Small Office Home Office

Small 8 to 24 drop Voice and Data Networks.

12 port mini patch panel, and 66 block on 1/4 blue board w/ mushroom spooler for cross connect. supports upto 12 data, and 12 voice cables. 19" rack mount shelf simply screwed to the backboard for network equipment like switches and routers.

Same deal, 12 port mini patch and 66 block on 1/4 blue w/ 19" rack shelf mounted above AT&T's smart jack. Below that is the MPOE. In the lower right of the picture you can see a couple inches of the CLEC's integrator.

A little more capacity, this is good for 24 voice, 24 data.

Optical Fiber connectivity to Solar Arrays

I terminated 3 runs of 6 strand 50/125um Laser Optimized fiber to connect 3 Solar Arrays at a Napa Winery for off-site monitoring. I really enjoyed this job!

The terminations are in electrical enclosures under an array. Lot's of power available for my work light!

Those are media converters attached to the outside of the fiber enclosure. With no cable management I simply found a way to keep the patch cables nice and "loopy". Plus, Mike's office use to be too far out for a regular network connection. But now with this network connection within distance, we got him all hooked up too! The Cisco switch will be patched into the oblong shaped monitors on the left.

This is the 3rd, and furthest array. Picture was taken late afternoon in November. I'm guessing there will be more sun during the longer months.

Temporary Point to Point Wireless

I was called to install a temporary Point to Point Wireless link at a school to bypass a cut network connection during campus wide remodel.

This radio is peeking over the edge of a fasade. I'm standing on the roof as I take this picture.

I had to return to lower this antenna as low as possible. Kids were throwing basketballs at it!

High Bidder wins!

I lost the bid on the original network cabling when the office was being built. But, I won the bid for the network expansion a couple of years later.

You can see the original cables to the right of my cable install. A proper installation simply costs a little more money to implement.

2 Racks, 2 ladders, and plenty of cable management

A 2 rack install in Petaluma. Around 150 data drops. Many of these drops went to cubical furniture. Feeding cables into cubical furniture is a LOT of work!

Penetrators above cable ladders. Yes, the ladders are technically upside down. It's still functional, AND it's what the client prefers.

Dressing cable across the ladder rack and preparing to punch down onto the patch panels

The system administrator was patching through workstations as fast as I was certifying the cables! You can see my tester hanging off the cable manager. --Maybe he will go back and dress into the cable managers after patching through?
